It Was Not NATO Expansion That Provoked Putin

Putin has this fever dream of history. Ukraine has never, ever in history been a part of Russia, but he wants to recreate this mythical single nation and become Vlad the Great. Putin doesn't blame NATO, he blames the Bolsheviks, because they always recognized the independent nation of Ukraine. But it's not just about creating a larger Russian-Slavic empire — one that has never existed. Putin's second reason for invading Ukraine is to restore the supremacy of the Muscovite Russian Orthodox Church. You have to understand, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has split away. So, his main aim is to restore the power of Moscow Patriarch Kirill, who is the source of his own political power. The idea is to impose Russian Orthodox Church values. Putin's not concerned about cruise missiles from Poland, what he's concerned about is homosexuals from NATO. Putin and Kirill are completely absorbed with the idea that there is this transgender mixing of sexes in the West, which is poisoning and undermining the traditional Russian culture. Pay attention to Putin’s own words. On July 12, 2021, months before his tanks rolled, Putin issued a detailed statement of his casus belli, his justification for total seizure of Ukraine. And nowhere, nowhere, nowhere in this 21-page meandering screed does Putin say one word about NATO expansion.
