CC Newsletter 13 April - NATO to be turned into a fighting force!

Dear Friend,

As the United States, the UK and other NATO powers surge weapons into Ukraine, the NATO alliance is being transformed into a fighting force capable of directly waging wars with Russia and China. Using the war between Russia and Ukraine as a pretext, NATO has already mobilized its 40,000-strong rapid response force against Russia. But this is only the beginning of a far broader transformation of the alliance in preparation for what US military planners have called “great-power conflict.”

If you think the contents of this newsletter are critical for the dignified living and survival of humanity and other species on earth, please forward it to your friends and spread the word. Asian Fault Lines Emerge Over Great War Conflict
by M K Bhadrakumar

The tremors of the United States’ tensions with Russia playing out in Europe are being felt in different ways already in Asia. The hypothesis that Ukraine is a part of Europe and the conflict is all about European security is delusional.

India has outsourced law and order to Hindutva lumpen
by Syed Ali Mujtaba

The recent communal clashes reported during the Ram Navami festival from the different parts of the country suggest that the Hindu zealots have taken
over the law order in their hands. They unleashed a reign of terror on the Muslim minority and there is none to stop them from doing so. This suggests that India has outsourced law and order to the Hindutva lumpen and the peace-loving Indians are watching the dance of death helplessly and hopelessly.

Understanding politics around Anti-conversion Laws in Adivasis dominated states
by Chhotelal Kumar

Through anti-conversion laws, the BJP government exploits the existing divide among Adivasis to discourage any movement and easily allot resources-rich Adivasis areas to industrialists. With the enactment of anti-conversion laws, BJP is pursuing its core agenda. One, by discouraging conversion and presenting them(Christian Adivasis) as “others”, BJP is pursuing its Hindu Nation-state and secondly, by preventing unity among Adivasis, it is countering any possibility
of a successful movement against its pursuit of the neoliberal agenda in resource-rich Adivasis area.

Caste and Constitution: Revisiting Ambedkar
by Sargam Sanil

Although elaborate arrangements have been provided for eliminating iniquitous customs, practices and institutional arrangements, we need more than just laws to combat a problem as deep-rooted and multi-dimensional as casteism, which appears to have set in below the surface, and is corroding our moral fibre.

Thousands of Threatened Trees Near the
Origin of Ganga River Must Be Saved
by Bharat Dogra

Protecting the Ganga river is a cause dear to the heart of all Indians.  Nowhere is the need for protection greater than near the origin of the Ganga river or Gangotri, in Uttarakhand Himalaya. So it is shocking to know that thousands of trees face the threat of being axed here in the near future. A strong national campaign is needed to save these trees.
