Dear Friend,
In face of the current intersectional crisis brought by the second wave of Covid-19, PM Modi tends to maintain his charisma and authority by following the Machiavellian politics of shedding off the blame for bad deeds and taking credit for the achievements. Modi government is trying to play dual card to save its image from the Covid-19 crisis. Firstly by blaming the public on personal level, appealing to their religious as well as spiritual emotions by making their suffering look like a predestined act of god which has befallen on them because of their mistakes and also because of their carelessness

PM Modi trying to shift blame to state governments to safeguard his charisma

Remember the Name – Sheikh Jarrah
by Dan Lieberman
The attempt to evict well-established Palestinian families from their rightful homes escalated from what Israel termed “only a real-estate dispute,” into wide areas of Israel and Gaza being pounded by military weapons. The attempt to evict well-established Palestinian families from their rightful homes escalated into worldwide defense of Palestinian rights and demands for an end to their continuous oppression. Sheikh Jarrah has left a permanent imprint on history. The world will remember, for eternity, the Name – Sheikh Jarrah.
Israel, Don’t Raise the Roof Beams High as you “Resettle” Lifta; its Owners will Return
by Rima Najjar
Israel’s institutionalized regime of racial domination and oppression targets the Palestinian people as a whole, including those no longer in Lifta
through no fault of their own, who have more right by far to reconstruct their homes in Lifta than Israeli Jews have in constructing housing and luxury hotels to “resettle” the village. We will return, so don’t raise the roof beams high, Israel.
A Memorial Day Celebration for Palestinian Freedom in a Hostile Occupied Land
by Irwin Jerome
So, on this Memorial Day 2021, Let’s each of us probe the depths of our souls, our minds and our hearts, yet one more time, to ask ourselves, whether we are a Palestinian, Israeli or whomever, what peaceful, kind, forgiving, healing memory of some one person, place, event or moment we have had in our common relationships with one another as human beings who all want the same things for ourselves, our families and our communities

The Relevance of Marcuse’s One-Dimensional Man and its Failures
by Carlos L Garrido
This year marks the 57th anniversary of Herbert Marcuse’s One-Dimensional Man (1964). This text, although plagued with a pessimistic spirit, was a great source of inspiration for the development of the New Left and the May 68 uprisings. The question we must ask ourselves is whether a text that predates the last 50 years of neoliberalism has any pertinent take-aways for today’s revolutionary struggles. Before we examine this, let us first review the context and central observations in Marcuse’s famed work.
Letter From The Sisters Of Lakshadweep
by Anitha S
We do not want our life and life style to be artefacts confined to a Museum after it is lost. We want to retain this , live our life in sync with the vast and benevolent oceans and lagoons, breathe the clean air, eat our fresh food, love and die here…our life is a live installation that is there for all to see and be part of. This is not a plea or an out cry- nor is this a request or a demand . This is a statement based on true convictions and hope, on trust and faith that democracy, equity and transparency should and will prevail. Please do what is in your capacity to make our voice heard

Fight against oppression must coexist with a call for humanity
by Aariz Imam
The genome of the oppressor lies
in the oppressed. Once the oppressed gets the power and privilege he too becomes the oppressor. The bitter experience of oppression and the memory it leaves in the subconscious mind serve as fertile ground for the oppressed to turn oppressor when the equations change. In the absence of reforms and education, the origin of oppression remain alive. This change in power dynamics perpetuates an oppressor oppressed continuum. Yet, no excuse is justifiable when the oppressed turn oppressor.
Education is hollow without Art
by Siddharth Darapuri
Poetically, Nature is a dreamer and an artist. The theropods dreamt and became birds, the first microorganisms dreamt and became the theropods. The potential of creativity is greatly undermined. It is time we let humans be humans, naturally.
Urgent Need For Proper Priorities in Regions of Water-Scarcity
by Bharat Dogra
We really need to take a close look at water use priorities and realities of various regions to get a clear understanding of the extent to which the actual water use (existing and planned) is departing from the priorities that are needed. A basic need like water cannot be denied to people and farm animals by diverting it to non-priority uses. Water audits and careful water planning are needed for this. Experts can contribute much to this, but effective decisions will emerge only if there is political support for this and if mobilization of people can ensure this.
