Our response to Trump rally violence

Win Without War

The shooting at former President Trump’s rally on Saturday was horrifying. Elections should not be decided by bullets, and we utterly condemn the actions we saw in Butler, Penn.

We all deserve to live and move through our communities peacefully — no matter whether we are attending school or running for political office.

When people ask me what Win Without War does, I say we are a peace organization: A group of people who envision and work to build a world where everyone can live with dignity and thrive without fear of violence. If you’re reading this, you likely share our passion for that vision.

Today, however, as we reckon with so much violence and hate, the idea of a peaceful world seems painfully distant. And if you’re scared, angry, or overwhelmed, I understand — this moment is challenging.

That’s why I write to you with a crucial reminder: You’re not alone. You are part of a movement of people committed to making this country — this world — a place where everyone feels true safety and security.

Remembering that we’re part of a community of hundreds of thousands strong is a huge source of hope and strength. The road ahead is long. Together, we will reject a status quo that feeds, grows off, and promises more devastating violence — and use our commitment to one another as the foundation to build the more peaceful world we want and deserve.

Thank you for working for peace,
Sara, on behalf of the Win Without War team
