Several of the Arizona Republicans that have been indicted in the fake elector scheme were forced to admit to a judge this week that they cannot afford lawyers, and they were instead given public defenders. This is actually a very big deal, as those who cannot afford to fight the charges against them suddenly become much more likely to strike deals with prosecutors to flip on everyone else.
