We’re in court to fight for clean air. |
Last week, we filed a lawsuit on behalf of environmental justice and conservation organizations against Suncor Energy, the operator of a Colorado oil refinery that is one of the greatest sources of air pollution in the state. Suncor has surpassed safe Clean Air Act limits more than 1,000 times. |
That is simply unacceptable. Earthjustice is here to make sure companies like Suncor Energy can't continue to violate our environmental laws, sacrificing the health of our communities for corporate profits. |
With your help, we are fighting back in court to ensure everyone has access to clean air and a healthy environment. Give today and help us see this and other fights through to the end. |
|
The North Denver region is one of the most polluted in the country. |
We are taking on this fight because neighboring communities have faced disproportionate health impacts from the Suncor refinery and other corporate polluters for too long. People living in north Denver have higher rates of asthma and asthma-related emergency room visits than people in the rest of the city. |
Suncor emits pollutants known to cause these kinds of health impacts. We are working in the courtroom to hold them accountable, but we cannot do this alone. We need your help to continue the fight for a healthy environment. Will you donate today and help fund this and other critical environmental fights? |
Like most big polluters, Suncor puts profits before people, even its own workers. Suncor has been reaping record profits in the last couple of years, and over the same period, paid its shareholders over $10 billion. In December 2022, there were two fires at the refinery, one of which sent two workers to the hospital and caused an increased amount of toxic benzene to be discharged into nearby Sand Creek. To date, the safety and maintenance practices have not been investigated and workers are still at risk. |
Whether it’s in north Denver, New York, or a town near you, Earthjustice fights every day to ensure everyone — no matter where they live — has access to clean air and a healthy environment. We are able to do this work, to take on these fights, and see them through until the end — because of the support of people like you. |

Thank you for your ongoing partnership. |
