Tell the government: Protect us from corporate monopolies

We have a monopoly crisis in this country.

From food, to phones, cars, pharmaceuticals, TV and movies, and more, chances are a company whose products you use has recently merged with another company.

It makes sense from the companies’ perspectives: The more of a market you control, the more people have to come to you for goods and the less you have to out-compete other businesses.

That’s why over the last 20 years, three quarters of industries have gotten more concentrated!

But these corporate mergers are bad for you and me. Corporations merging together means less competition, fewer choices, lower wages, higher prices, and less innovation.

Fortunately, the government is creating new guidelines that could end the wave of mergers that help these wealthy companies at our expense.

The federal government needs your assistance as it writes the new guidelines and considers the harms done by corporate mergers. Please send a message today to let decisionmakers know why you want them to stand up to the big corporations.

Lobbyists often consult with the government behind closed doors, making their case for why they think keeping the existing, too weak guidelines that just so happen to benefit themselves would be the right move in their minds.

This is our chance to push back against the corporate lobbyists and show the government how many people are concerned about corporate mergers.

If you’ve been through a merger in your workplace, if a company you like was bought out by another, or if you just don’t like the idea of corporations continuing to consolidate until we have no choices left — share your thoughts with the federal government right away.

Please note: The government is only allowing comments through the end of the day today. If you want to get yours in, don’t delay!

Thanks for speaking out,

George
