This just happened:
The Trump Administration Just Greenlit the Ambler Road Project, Overturning Years of Input from Outdoorsmen
"In an unprecedented move, the White House announced it was invoking an obscure federal provision to disregard public feedback and move forward with the 211-mile industrial corridor in the Alaskan wilderness"
- OUTDOOR LIFE |
Donald Trump has greenlit a 211‑mile mining road through one of America’s last wild places — a move that will shred habitats, endanger wildlife, and imperil Indigenous communities.
Trump used a little-known clause in the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act (ANILCA) to unilaterally overrule the Biden administration’s environmental rejection of the Ambler Road Project.
This is MAGA extremism in action: bulldozing public lands, ignoring experts, locals, and public feedback, and handing the natural legacy of our country and sacred Indigenous heritage over to the highest bidder.
We KNOW it’s against the public’s wishes — and now we need Democrats to stand up and demand Congress put a halt to Trump’s decision.
Add your name if you agree: Congress must BLOCK the Ambler Road Project and DEFEND Alaska’s wild lands »
The proposed project:
➤ Cuts through Gates of the Arctic National Park and Preserve, with 26 miles inside park boundaries alone.
➤ Crosses 11 rivers and thousands of streams, threatening salmon, caribou, and fragile ecosystems.
➤ Sets the stage for unlimited mining projects after Biden officials blocked them for the environmental risks.
➤ Undermines protections for endangered species already hanging by a thread.
We cannot afford to wait. We need Democratic champions to rise — to block Trump’s destructive agenda, to defend our wildlife, and to stand with Indigenous communities whose lives and culture are under threat.
SIGN THE PETITION NOW: Demand Congress reject the Ambler Road Project and fight for wild Alaska >>
If we stand by, Trump and his Big Mining allies will literally pave over the future — along with wolves, caribou, bears, and the very spirit of public lands.
We cannot accept silence. We cannot accept half‑measures. We demand action.
Thank you for raising your voice,
Democratic Conservationists
