April 15th is officially Tax Day. But someone making $1 million a year isn’t paying into Social Security today — they stopped in early March. Billionaires, like Elon Musk and Donald Trump, stopped paying in on January 1st. That’s just one of the many tax loopholes that millionaires and billionaires enjoy. They’ve spent decades lobbying Congress for special tax handouts that allow them to avoid paying their fair share. Meanwhile, working and middle class Americans are paying taxes with every paycheck we receive while seeing the cost of living skyrocket on everything from gas to healthcare to food. Every year on Tax Day, millions of Americans pay what they owe to support the country we all depend on. And all year long, working Americans pay into Social Security and Medicare with every paycheck — but the wealthy don’t. We’re sending hundreds of thousands of messages to Congress, demanding that the ultra-wealthy and big corporations finally pay their fair share. When they do, we can protect and expand Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid — and make America a country that everyone can afford to live in.
