You may remember our friend Emerson. While dealing with medical issues, he was forcibly placed on unpaid leave without a realistic path to return. It was only after we made noise about his situation that he was allowed to continue working. But, within weeks of returning to Trader Joe’s, he'd be unfairly fired. Since his termination, Emerson has been struggling to survive. While continuing to battle his health issues, he was forced to move in with family. Unable to keep up with the payments, he'd lose his only means of transportation. All while being ineligible for unemployment— as he was informed that Trader Joe's falsely classified his firing as voluntary job abandonment. Trader Joe's may feel that their workers are disposable, but we don't. It's all of our responsibility to take care of one another. And, its working-class supporters like you, who make that possible.
