Major Afternoon News Updates - 10/22/25
As Donald Trump demolishes democracy and even parts of the White House, leaders like Gavin Newsom are stepping in to protect Americans left behind by his chaos.
By Ben Meiselas
Well, this was quite the news to hear this morning. California Governor Gavin Newsom announced he is bringing in the National Guard, not to enforce crackdowns or deploy force like Trump did during his presidency, but to deliver food to struggling families. Imagine that?
Newsom said the California National Guard and California Volunteers will be deployed on a humanitarian mission to support food banks across the state as Trump’s government shutdown delays food benefits for millions.
Think about that contrast. Trump used the National Guard to attack Americans, from peaceful protesters to immigrants and journalists. Newsom is using them to feed Americans. It’s a clear reflection of two very different versions of America: one defined by cruelty and collapse, the other by compassion and competence.
Meanwhile, the corruption orbiting Trump continues to metastasize. Melania Trump’s much-hyped $MELANIA coin has crashed spectacularly. A new lawsuit accuses its architects of knowingly inflating and dumping the coin in a classic pump-and-dump scheme. It’s yet another fraud allegation surrounding the Trump family, who seem to view public life as a never-ending grift.
As these scandals unfold, Trump is literally bulldozing the East Wing of the White House to construct what many are calling the “Epstein Ballroom”—a gaudy gold monstrosity that epitomizes his corruption and excess. Even as the country reels from his shutdown, Trump is demanding that the Department of Justice pay him $230 million in taxpayer money as compensation for his “pain and suffering” from federal investigations.
Let that sink in: the man who has weaponized the DOJ against his critics and committed grave crimes against the United States now wants the DOJ to cut a check—to himself. He claims he’ll donate it to charity. Sure, just like the Trump Foundation, which was shut down for fraud.
While Trump builds ballrooms for billionaires, 20 million Americans are losing their health care. Families can’t afford rent or food. Rural hospitals are closing. And Trump’s allies like Speaker “MAGA Mike” Johnson stand before cameras pretending they’ve “saved health care,” boasting about imaginary legislative victories while refusing to negotiate an end to the shutdown.
At his press conference, Johnson even claimed, “We cut hundreds of billions in fraud, waste, and abuse from government. We solved the border crisis. We strengthened Medicaid.” None of that is true. His so-called budget “savings” came from cutting vital programs that keep Americans alive.
When reporters pressed him on Trump’s $230 million DOJ payout scheme, Johnson claimed he had “no idea” what was going on, but added that if Trump did receive the money, “he’d probably give it to charity.” What broken human beings. They shrug off corruption as if it’s just “bad optics.” But it’s not just optics. It’s lawlessness. It’s authoritarianism. And it’s killing people.
Meanwhile, Trump is now attacking American cattle ranchers. After he destroyed the beef market and then called to import more beef from Argentina in a failed attempt to stabilize the markets (just another way to bail out his MAGA ally Javier Milei), he is now essentially calling American farmers dumb and saying they should be grateful for him. “It would be nice if they would understand” that “they are doing so well” thanks to Trump, he wrote. This, as they suffer and warn that he is putting them out of business.
The Trump regime is not only about incompetence, but deliberate destruction. The same Trump who bankrupted casinos, stiffed workers, and conned investors is now doing the same to the United States. He’s using the tactics that defined his private life—bullying, suing, demolishing, lying—to dismantle the foundations of democracy.
As I’ve said before, you cannot reason with a maniac like Donald Trump. You have to stand up to him. That’s exactly what Governor Newsom is doing, meeting cruelty with compassion, and tyranny with resolve.
The contrast between these two men tells you everything about the battle for America’s soul. One is tearing it apart for profit. The other is trying to hold it together for the people.
And that’s why we keep exposing the truth every single day at the MeidasTouch Network.
Oh, before I go, I want you to know about this latest breaking news. Journalist Michael Wolff has filed a lawsuit against Melania Trump in New York seeking a declaratory judgment and damages for defamation. Wolff is now striking back after Melania allegedly threatened to sue him for $1 billion over comments he made about the Trumps and Jeffrey Epstein.
I am working right now to get Wolff on the network to discuss the lawsuit. Stay tuned.
OK, I’m off to make more videos. Thanks for watching, reading, and subscribing. See you soon.
