URGENT ACTION NEEDED: Your Senator could vote to CRIMINALIZE protesting oil pipelines as soon as THIS MORNING! >> Take immediate action! This morning, the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee is considering a bill that could give up to 20 YEARS IN PRISON to activists protesting pipelines that violate Indigenous sovereignty and poison our communities! If passed, this bill could significantly hurt the environmental movement’s ability to stop dirty oil pipelines in your community – and would be another attack on our right to free speech! Your Senator is on this committee – and that’s why we’re reaching out to you specifically in this deeply urgent moment. We need your help to FLOOD their office with messages opposing this attack on our right to protest before it’s too late! Tell your Senator: OPPOSE the bill to criminalize pipeline protests before the vote later today! |

In 2010, an oil pipeline in Michigan ruptured and contaminated a 30-mile stretch of the Kalamazoo River with about 1 MILLION gallons of tar-sands crude oil! It became one of the largest inland oil spills in U.S. history and cost more than $1 billion in cleanup. These are the exact situations environmental activists and community organizers want to prevent. Instead, this bill could threaten people simply trying to protect their communities with years in jail and massive fines. And your Senator might be the vote that makes it happen. Will you send your message to your Senator right now to defend pipeline protestors and our communities? |
