TONIGHT in Mason, Tennessee, local leaders will vote on bringing an “Alligator Alcatraz”-style immigrant detention facility to West Tennessee. They’re considering two contracts: one with ICE and one with private prison giant CoreCivic — both aimed to fuel Trump’s mass deportation agenda. CoreCivic is already advertising “detention officer” jobs in Mason. And thanks to the Republican budget passed in July, billions of federal dollars are flowing to bankroll the cruel, inhumane, and reckless ICE raids. They’ve wrongfully detained legal residents, torn countless families apart, and now the so-called party of “fiscal responsibility” is threatening our economy. Immigrant workers make up over 280,000 members of Tennessee’s labor force, fueling industries from construction to manufacturing. Mass deportations mean lost jobs, lost spending power, and devastated communities.
