This isn’t a glitch in a warzone bureaucracy—it’s part of a documented, state-run deportation and identity erasure program. The ICC has already issued arrest warrants for Vladimir Putin and his children’s commissioner, Maria Lvova-Belova, for the unlawful deportation of Ukrainian children. This website is practically Exhibit A. The receipts: ~294 abducted kids listed online with photos and personal data—no masking, no privacy. Last week, during a Ukraine/Russia prisoner swap, Ukrainian officials gave Russia a list of close to 20k names of Ukrainian children. Zelensky has always said there will be no peace deal until the kids are home, in Ukraine with their families. This week, he reiterated that as part of his response to Trump/Putin’s alleged ceasefire proposal. No kids, no deal. What amazes me about this story is how no one wants to include the kidnapping of 20 children as part of the ongoing invasion and genocide of the Ukrainian people. We talk more about every other shitty, pointless aspect of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, but somehow the theft of 20k Ukrainian children (and now the trafficking of at least 300) gets a pass.
