Donald Trump is once again trying to sell off one of our most essential public institutions -- the U.S. Postal Service. His latest move? Nominating two of his ultra-wealthy megadonors, Anthony Lomangino and John LaValle, to the USPS Board of Governors. These men have no background in postal operations or public service -- but they do have a clear mission: help Trump push privatization and turn mail delivery into a profit-driven enterprise.
That’s not just wrong -- it’s a direct threat to the communities who rely on USPS the most. Rural areas, Indigenous nations, and underserved neighborhoods could lose critical access to mail delivery, prescription medications, vote-by-mail ballots, and other basic services if a private corporation takes control. For many of these communities, there’s not much profit to be made -- only a public responsibility that must not be abandoned.
Lomangino is a Mar-a-Lago donor who poured nearly $9 million into a Trump super PAC and even paid legal bills for Trump allies under federal investigation. LaValle is a long-time GOP party boss with deep ties to MAGA politics. Neither was nominated for their qualifications. They were nominated to rubber-stamp Trump’s plan to dismantle the Postal Service’s public mission, declare it “failing,” and hand it over to corporations that will raise prices, slash routes, and abandon communities that aren’t considered profitable.
Send a direct message to your Senators: reject Trump’s USPS Board nominees. Say no to corruption and inequality -- and yes to a Postal Service that serves everyone, not just the wealthy and well-connected.
Let’s be clear: privatizing the Postal Service would devastate the people who depend on it most. In rural and Indigenous communities, USPS is often the only delivery option -- for medicine, bill payments, business supplies, and everyday communication. No private company will serve every address if there’s no money to be made. That’s why this is not just a policy issue -- it’s a question of equity, justice, and even our national identity.
The Postal Service doesn’t exist to turn a profit. It exists to serve everyone, in every ZIP code, regardless of income or geography. That’s what sets it apart from private industry -- and that’s what Trump’s nominees threaten to destroy.
Instead of selling it off, we should be modernizing the USPS: expanding services like postal banking for the unbanked, deploying electric vehicle charging stations, and supporting government efforts like the Census. No other agency has the infrastructure or reach to serve every corner of the country as fairly and affordably as the Postal Service.
If Lomangino and LaValle are confirmed, Republicans would take a 4–2 majority on the USPS Board, with two more seats left to fill. The path to full privatization -- and massive service cuts -- would be wide open.
Tell your Senators to reject Trump’s USPS Board nominees. Say no to privatization and cronyism, and keep the post office as a valued public service.
Thank you for standing up for the public good -- and for defending the right of all communities to be seen, served, and respected.
