URGENT ACTION NEEDED: Trump's USDA just introduced a new rule that would speed up lines at slaughterhouses — which could lead to more worker injury, more animal cruelty, and compromised food safety! Take action now! >> Donald Trump and his Big Ag buddies want to ramp up line speeds at slaughterhouses to boost corporate profits – all while exhausted workers and helpless animals would be left exposed to far more hazardous conditions with little protection. Faster slaughter lines can lead to higher rates of carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, and other chronic conditions for workers, who already face alarmingly high rates of occupational injury, as well as the elimination of worker safety data submissions to USDA. Reduced capacity for federal inspectors also makes it harder to catch DISEASED meat before it reaches consumers and could increase chances of contamination in our food supply. It’s also a nightmare for helpless animals. What if you were shackled and shoved on a fast-moving line, unable to escape, after brutal attempts to render you unconscious failed – leaving you to feel every ounce of pain? That’s the type of cruelty that too many innocent animals in slaughterhouses already experience. When slaughter lines speed up, animal suffering intensifies. There’s less time for proper stunning, less oversight, and more chaos. That means there’s an increased likelihood that animals will be mishandled – putting helpless pigs and chickens at higher chance of still being conscious when they’re CUT OPEN or SUBMERGED IN SCALDING WATER. If finalized, this rule would put workers, animals, and our food supply at risk – so we MUST make our voices heard IMMEDIATELY to STOP Trump’s USDA from approving this disastrous policy.
