The Trump administration says it’s “cutting bureaucratic bloat” from our education system. But we should call this plan what it is. This is a calculated effort to defund public education and funnel taxpayer dollars into privatized, unaccountable school systems.

If the goal were efficiency, we’d invest in classrooms and educators, reduce administrative burdens without cutting core services, and ensure every child has access to a quality public education.

Public schools are the backbone of our democracy, and we must protect them.
