Good evening. I wish I were coming to you tonight with better news. Instead, I am tracking two deeply disturbing and consequential stories: the horrific mass shooting at Brown University, and the growing outrage after the President of the United States shared misinformation about the suspected shooter. I am also following an important new development related to the Epstein files that demands close attention.

I won’t pretend this is easy to write. I am heartbroken. But this is the reality of the country we live in right now—and tonight, it feels impossible to deny that we have failed one another.

Here’s what you missed:

• Two people have been confirmed killed and eight others remain in critical condition at this hour following a horrific mass shooting at Brown University on the campus. No suspect is currently in custody.

• This is the current update from Brown University:

• Donald Trump caused mass confusion during the mass shooting, initially tweeting that a suspect was in custody, only to retract the post about fifteen minutes later. Those online believe that Trump’s initial post could have placed lives in danger as individuals who believed the President may have left their shelter in place locations during an ongoing mass shooting threat. As of this post, Trump’s initial false post remains up.

• Congressman Robert Garcia confirms that their investigation into the Epstein files “is just getting started,” that they have spoken to “good patriots” in the DOJ who want the files released, and the truth will come out.

• President Donald Trump vowed “very serious retaliation” after an ISIS ambush in Syria near Palmyra killed two U.S. Army soldiers and a civilian interpreter and wounded three others during a counter-ISIS engagement, with U.S. officials saying the lone gunman was killed, the attack is under investigation, and tensions remain high as U.S. forces continue operations against Islamic State with about 2,000 troops deployed in the country.

• Virginia Giuffre’s family said they were “deeply disappointed” after London’s Metropolitan Police dropped its probe into Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, citing a lack of evidence that he sought to smear Giuffre, a decision the family says came without warning or consultation and before the release of new Epstein-related materials, despite Giuffre’s longstanding allegations and a prior civil settlement.

• According to The Guardian Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation in Kansas is facing internal turmoil and backlash from other tribes after its economic development subsidiary signed a $29.9 million DHS contract to design ICE detention facilities, a deal tribal leaders now say conflicts with their values and historical experience of forced removal and which they are seeking to exit after firing the executives who approved it.

• A federal judge ruled the Justice Department must return data seized in 2017 from law professor Daniel Richman, finding prosecutors showed “callous disregard” for his Fourth Amendment rights by retaining and later reusing the material without a new warrant to indict James Comey, though a sealed copy may be kept by the court in case prosecutors seek future authorization.

• CNN has confirmed that Israel’s cabinet approved the legalization and establishment of 19 settler outposts across the occupied West Bank—some deep inside Palestinian territory and previously illegal under both Israeli and international law—drawing sharp Palestinian condemnation as a dangerous escalation and “creeping annexation” that critics say aims to entrench control over the territory and undermine the possibility of a future Palestinian state.

• The Guardian has confirmed a drone strike hit a UN peacekeeping logistics base in Kadugli, Sudan, killing six Bangladeshi peacekeepers and wounding eight others, an attack the Sudanese military blamed on the RSF militia and which UN Secretary General António Guterres condemned as “unjustifiable” and potentially a war crime amid Sudan’s escalating civil war and humanitarian catastrophe.

• Peter Greene, the 60-year-old actor best known for his villain roles in Pulp Fiction and The Mask, was found dead in his New York City apartment, with police saying no foul play is suspected and colleagues remembering him as a gifted performer with a generous and gentle personality.

Fox did an entire segment attacking Jordy for what he said on the latest MeidasTouch Podcast episode, where he called out the White House for lying about Trump’s health. Jordy said that it was ridiculous and insulting for the White House to claim the discoloration on the back of Trump’s hand and the constant bandages on that discolored hand are caused by “shaking a lot of hands.” Jordy said that things like this shouldn’t be a Democrat or Republican issue — it should just be about facts versus lies. Well, Fox had major problems with what Jordy said. Fox devoted an entire panel to attacking him. First, the Fox panel claimed that it was Jordy who was lying. Fox said that everybody knows that shaking hands leads to discoloration and the need for bandages on a person’s hand. Next, Fox lied about what Jordy said and claimed Jordy said Trump had a “zombie disease” on his hand. Jordy never said that. Third, Fox brought up Joe Biden as a way to deflect. Fourth, they called Jordy by the name Jordan, which pisses me off. MeidasTouch Editor-in-Chief Ron Filipkowski just wrote, “Wait, wait, wait. Fox is SERIOUSLY, ACTUALLY trying to get their audience of lemmings to believe that the heavy makeup & band-aids on Trump’s hand for months are from shaking hands?!? They are attacking Meidas for disputing that? They have nothing but contempt for their viewers.” As you all know, MeidasTouch is living rent-free inside the headquarters of Fox and inside the heads of Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch. They’ve consistently attacked our hosts and have even called for the DOJ to look into them for reporting on ICE raids. They’ve tried to have us shut down. They are pouring in billions of dollars into their digital newsroom to try and take us down — and we still beat them each day. It’s good to know Fox is feeling the heat as MeidasTouch has become the most-watched news network on digital in the United States. Let’s keep it up, folks! Let’s never apologize. Fox News host Jessica Tarlov pulled no punches when talking about President Donald Trump's handling of the economy.

“The Trump team knows the economy is going badly. Good luck blaming [Joe] Biden for an economy of the GOP’s creation,” she said in a post on X. “Trump is just setting the economy on fire and not in the good way, in the dumpster-fire kind of way.”

Tarlov accused the Trump administration of withholding key economic data because the numbers look bad. “We aren’t getting the jobs numbers anymore, the GDP numbers, or the inflation numbers,” she said in a recent episode of “The Five.” “And we know that Donald Trump, if a number is even remotely good or he can lie about it, he tells you what it is.”

The Trump team knows the economy is going badly. Thats why he's on the road and why they've stopped releasing jobs, GDP, and inflation numbers. She also brought up troubling signs in the economy that have been confirmed by media reports: layoffs trending toward Great Recession levels, 70% of Americans saying they're paying more for groceries, 60% seeing higher utility bills, and nine months of contraction in the manufacturing sector.

Rather than confront the substance of what those materials reveal and just be honest with the American people, the administration accused Democrats of “selectively releasing photos” to make the president “look bad.” It’s hard to square that accusation with the fact that in the release, there were images of Democrats, including a former Democratic president, with Jeffrey Epstein as well. But Trump’s response says everything about where we are. If the president truly had no meaningful relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, transparency would be the obvious remedy. Release the full files. Let the public see the record. Instead, the White House is attempting to discredit disclosure itself. The images, drawn from Epstein’s own materials, raise disturbing questions about Trump’s proximity to Epstein and the world he inhabited. Blaming others for exposing evidence is not a defense. Claiming you had “nothing” to do with Epstein despite all the evidence to the contrary just raises suspicion. That panic was compounded by grim developments abroad. Even as Americans brace for that impact, the president’s political operation continues to solicit money as if he were perpetually campaigning. Supporters receive messages crafted to feel personal and urgent, asking for donations to meet artificial “deadlines.” It is a familiar grift, one that persists despite the fact that Trump already occupies the Oval Office. Governance, it seems, is secondary to fundraising.
