The Trump administration took particular issue with the pope’s critique of its immoral, militaristic proclivities, specifically in a speech in January, where Pope Leo noted that "a diplomacy that promotes dialogue and seeks consensus among all parties is being replaced by a diplomacy based on force," and that "war is back in vogue, and a zeal for war is spreading."

Days after Leo delivered his very sensible State of the World speech, Sec. of War Crimes Pete Hegseth dispatched an underling to deliver a chilling message to Cardinal Christophe Pierre, the Vatican’s US representative: "The United States," Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Elbridge Colby said, "has the military power to do whatever it wants in the world. The Catholic Church had better take its side." We've now reached "menace the papacy" levels of delusion, folks. Any questions?

Bondi was set to be deposed on April 14 in the House Oversight Committee’s ongoing Epstein investigation but signaled earlier this week she would be a no-show. The DOJ has rushed to her defense, issuing a statement so weak on substance a toddler could poke a hole through it: "Ms. Bondi no longer holds that office. As a result, because Ms. Bondi no longer can testify in her official capacity as Attorney General, the Department’s position is that the subpoena no longer obligates her to appear on April 14."

One teeny tiny problem with that logic: Congress did not subpoena "the office of the US attorney general." It subpoenaed Pamela Jo Bondi. And questions are questions. Pretty sure Pam still has the capacity to deflect, equivocate, and obfuscate without an official title.

Israel's attacks devastate Beirut and threaten fragile ceasefire
