Tell Congress: Stop corporations from weakening regulations to benefit themselves PROTECT OUR COMMUNITIES!

 

If you want to fight back against big businesses that are weakening regulations to benefit themselves, then I have some good news. Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Rep. Pramila Jayapal just introduced the EXPERTS Act (S. 3210/H.R. 6145) — a bill that would limit attempts by corporations and their allies to undermine new regulations: It would require disclosure of corporate-financed sham science intended to slow down and cast doubt on new safety regulations It would create a $250,000 fine for corporations that submit false information to government regulatory bodies It would require government agencies to more robustly consider the benefits to society that new regulations provide and empower marginalized communities so they can take on big corporations that want to block new regulations or remove existing safeguards And it would stop right-wing activist judges — who are opposed to the idea of the government regulating corporations to protect people — from rubber-stamping corporate objections to those regulations In short, if you believe that the government should regulate Big Business to protect the people, you should support the EXPERTS Act. But this bill is going to face fierce opposition in Congress from powerful corporate lobbyists and their allies. So we need as many members of Congress supporting the bill as possible. Please contact your members of Congress right away. Tell them: Corporations should not have free rein to undermine new regulations that protect Americans.
