They were WHITE SUPREMACISTS, WHITE NATIONALISTS or whatever label you choose - they subsequently severely beat others when they got them alone, as well as killing HEATHER HEYER. BIGOTS, RACISTS, KU KLUX KLANSMEN, NAZIS. WIKIPEDIA: US president Donald Trump's remarks about the rally generated negative responses.
