Meidas Survives Cyber Attack by MAGA Ben Meiselas and MeidasTouch Network Jan 27 Written by Ben Meiselas I’ll keep this short. We knew this was coming, and we were prepared. A MAGA supporter attempted to hack into our systems and shut us down. Our cybersecurity protocols repelled the attack. When we caught the individual, he launched into a hateful, racist tirade against our producer that I will not repeat here. Here’s what happened. Our senior producer, who oversees our research department, received a call from a number that appeared to be from X (formerly Twitter) Headquarters. We quickly determined that the caller was “spoofing” the number to impersonate X. The individual claimed to be with X’s cybersecurity department and requested verification of certain details. Our producer was trained for this exact scenario. Our protocols were immediately activated. I won’t reveal our trade secrets here to protect our systems, but suffice it to say, the attempt was thwarted. Once the hacker realized he had been caught, he began cursing and spewing horrific racist language. Fortunately, our security held strong, and no breach occurred. I have been in contact with the FBI due to prior death threats we’ve received. While I have great respect for the agent I’ve been working with, I’m unsure how to proceed given Trump’s influence over the FBI. It’s an unfortunate reality that we must now navigate. In response to this and other threats, we have stepped up our personal security and implemented additional protective measures.
