Don't look away - Nearly 100 grizzlies gunned down in massive helicopter hunt.

 

This is terrifying. Last year, rifle-wielding state officials in Alaska took to the skies for a massive helicopter chase and GUNNED DOWN nearly 100 mama bears and innocent cubs! As bullets rained down, mama bears desperately scrambled to escape with their precious babies. But they crumpled to the ground one after another, leaving their helpless cubs to cling to their mangled bodies.  How could a massacre like this happen? Alaskan officials told these hunters to KILL EVERY BEAR THEY SAW. This could be just the beginning of a bloody era of unrestricted slaughter that could push grizzlies in the lower 48 states into EXTINCTION – all because extremist trophy hunters are attacking the Endangered Species Act to strip these mama bears and cubs of lifesaving federal protections. The ESA is critical to ensuring lasting protections for vulnerable species like our majestic grizzlies. Without it, the tiny grizzly population we have left in the lower 48 states could be torn apart by vicious hunting dogs; left to struggle, bleed and starve in inhumane traps; and mercilessly pumped with bullets like we just saw in Alaska. On top of slaughtering irreplaceable wildlife, anti-environment interests could open up grizzlies’ habitats to mega-polluting drilling, logging and mining projects with disastrous consequences for people and planet. We can’t let that happen.
