An update on our response to the Israel-Gaza conflict

 

Friend, I wanted to reach out to you personally with an important update: As the horrific events continue to unfold in Israel and Gaza, I want to let you know that Americares is more committed than ever to helping everyone affected by this crisis that we can. Here is the latest I've heard from the ground. The gravity of the situation is undeniable: Since Israel was violently attacked on Oct. 7, UN agencies have reported more than 1,900 lives have been lost in Israel and Gaza and 260,000 people have been displaced. Gaza's sole power station has ceased operation due to fuel shortages, affecting hospitals and essential services. Half of the health centers operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in Gaza are not providing primary care services as of Oct. 11. Americares is responding to this grave humanitarian crisis: Americares is focused on meeting the most urgent medical needs of civilians caught in the crossfire. We're providing emergency funding to a long time local partner on the ground for antibiotics, IV fluids and other essential medicine and medical supplies.  We're actively communicating with humanitarian organizations based in Israel to understand how we can support the health of those affected by the crisis. At this critical time, your support is urgently needed to provide lifesaving assistance, medicine and supplies wherever people are impacted by violence and disaster.
