In 2009, Maine Senator Susan Collins demanded the removal of $870 million for pandemic preparedness in exchange for her vote to pass the Obama stimulus package.

Eleven years later, we’re paying the price. We don’t have enough ventilators for everyone who may need them. Doctors and nurses are falling sick because they don’t have enough gowns and masks. And millions have lost their jobs as our economy has ground to a halt because of the coronavirus pandemic.
This is an outrage.
Collins is one of the many reasons our country was unprepared for this global pandemic in the first place. We cannot allow her poor judgment to leave us unprepared for the next crisis.
