URGENT Sunday Message from MEIDAS FOUNDERBy Ben Meiselas Hello Meidas Mighty. I want to start my Sunday message by thanking the Riverside County Democrats for inviting me to their JFK Award Luncheon in Palm Springs yesterday.
I am grateful for being named their Independent Journalist of the Year. I got to bring my family to Palm Springs for the ceremony, and my 15-month-old daughter loved the desert. Thank you, Leigh McGowan, aka PoliticsGirl, for introducing my award. Next, I want to thank our subscribers to this Substack. I gave you all a shoutout during my award speech. You’re the backbone of this network and you’ve allowed us to expand and grow so that we now get more views and engagement on digital platforms than Fox and all cable news. I am drinking a coffee this morning from a nearby coffee shop called KOFI in Palm Springs. It’s my usual black coffee. I was able to walk around Downtown Palm Springs last night where I met so many Meidas Mighty who came up to me. It’s incredible to hear how much this network has meant to your lives. I was so touched hearing your stories. This has been one of the most important weeks in the history of the MeidasTouch Network. We’ve taken a significant lead over Fox in the digital ratings. As you know from earlier posts, the combined attacks on us from Trump and Fox backfired on them. They are weaker than ever, and the MeidasTouch Network and the pro-democracy movement are stronger than ever. Trump and the GOP will continue to unravel. There will be more resignations in Congress by GOP Members in the coming months. There will be more serious infighting in the GOP caucus before the year is done. Trump’s approval will continue to plummet. During my trip to Palm Springs, the one thing I kept hearing over and over is that Democrats and those who love democracy are feeling hope again. The energy we need to take back our country from this fascist regime is back. There is no doubt that Trump has caused grievous harm to our nation and the world. But I think for the first time in a long time, people are starting to think about and reflect on a world with no more Trump in the future, where we can rebuild and focus on bringing love and joy and empathy and truth back. These are my reflections on this Sunday from Palm Springs. I am grateful to call you all my friends and grateful to be in this fight with you. Thanks for all you do. Optimism is essential if you want to solve a difficult problem. You need to have faith that the problem is solvable or you won't even look for answers that work for you. You need to have hope that the universe does not close all paths to all the solutions, in this case hope that some people will do the right things and not simply be stupid, greedy or cowards. And finally you need determination to keep pushing forward, regardless of the difficulties. If you do these things, most every problem in the universe is solvable, and no Trump is not God, he is not 'unstoppable', he is not 'all powerful', he is an old man, a criminal who got caught, he is mentally falling apart and the illusions that were created around him are coming undone.
Agreed! On a side note, a Pastor friend of mine recently observed that God appears to be displaying tRump's "nakedness and wickedness" to the world!
Remember Trump and his moron gang are weak but the MeidasTouch pack will always remain optimistic

Congratulations and Thanks. I live in La Quinta near Palm Springs. It’s another sleepless night and as I drink my morning tea I saw your post. As Cathi says, I pray your optimism is right. I live in an overwhelmingly “MAGA” community and everything seems the same, they think Trump is doing a great job. It’s hard to fathom.
I will try to remain optimistic for the future, please continue your work for all of us.
Much of my world is also MAGA and, as Eleanor says, many of their lives — some of whom I’ve cherished — seem to go on endlessly proclaiming themselves winning, regardless of the state of our beloved and and rapidly declining country. I also share your optimism, chiefly because we have to win. We HAVE to win. I thank you, and remain firmly in your corner.
Isn't it just crazy that there are still people you support trump and ehst he is doing! It makes me sick to my stomach! Everyday we wake up to another day with a big black cloud hanging over us!
I live in a “MAGA” community also. Not everyone - but many. They can be annoying !!!
I also fall into that stomach turning category. It's the reason that I am so glad for MTN. It's the only place I can get positivity from. If not for all of the MTN Independant journalists, and this community, I would be lost.

I think we have the same representative. We were gerrymandered The last election we, our congressman, Dr. Raul Ruiz. He was great. I’m still not sure where and when or who our next congressman will be, but you can be sure I’m gonna work tirelessly for our democratic Candidate.
Hi, Eleanor. Please hang in there. I live an hour north of Palm Springs in the high desert of the Morongo Basin (San Bernardino County), which is also a red-leaning area with a useless Republican congressman. My town and neighborhood are full of Magats and I was feeling quite alone. It wasn’t until our No Kings rallies in Joshua Tree this year, that I realized we are surrounded by like-minded Blue allies. This gave me the strength to keep fighting. Step one is replacing our R congressman with a progressive Democrat next November. We can do it! 💪🏼💙

I did VOTER CANVASSING with an organization that sent me into REPUBLICAN areas - script was non-controversial....what an ENLIGHTENING EXPERIENCE!
2 standouts: ONE MAN STAGGERING DRUNK before NOON on a SUNDAY, the other man threatened to have me arrested - through his clossed door.
(It was in NEW HAMPSHIRE where PUBLIC EDUCATION is funded with REAL ESTATE PROPERTY TAXES and POVERTY defines EDUCATION.)
I knocked on doors to defeat a CORRUPT REPUBLICAN - I had the FACTS.
ALL REPUBLICANS insisted "WE ONLY VOTE FOR REPUBLICANS!"

There’s a lot of work to be done once we bring this regime to an end, but we must be optimistic about the future.
We will need to restore health care and assistance to millions of people, who have had their lifelines taken away from so Scott Bessent can afford a Barbie dream house and Elon Musk can become a trillionaire.
We will need to rebuild the alliances we had shattered with our siding with Russia and other rogue states. It will take a long time to repair the damages and we will need experienced leaders to help us build back stronger.
We will need to reform the institutions of courts and the executive branch. Trump has expanded the power of presidency far beyond what any imperial president has ever dreamed of. But we need to have them held accountable for profiting while in office and giving out pardons like they are the Presidential M&M’s.
But we have seen the people, not in is country rally against this corrupt regime, but around the globe. We have seen the rise in independent media and its growing support for honesty and democracy.
The regime thought they would have complete compliance from everyone by now. But they have failed and will continue to fail.

Congrats Dawg... You and our brothers from other mothers is what is SAVING our republic from the Nazi tyrant and his gang of thieves. It amazes me that we are still dealing with this bull after our fathers and grandfathers had to beat it down 70 odd years ago. It seems so SIMPLE to me that the color of our skin, who we love and where we were born makes a dam bit of difference on how we treat one another. Old school institutions are trying to hang on to there power and that be all they care about. We have moved into the age of awareness where TRUTH will be known by ALL of us 2 leggeds.
Congrats on your award. You really deserve it. I woke up this morning, feeling like I can't get out of this nightmare that we are living in. So many bad things happening and I feel so helpless. I would like to face the Republicans in Congress and shake some sense in to them. I want to shame them for what they are doing to our Peoples and what they are allowing this regime to do to our Country. I want to tell them to "shut up" and let me talk. Let me tell them how they are failing our Country and all that live in it. How this shouldn't be about parties, but about saving our Constitution. I want to tell Mike Johnson to crawl back in the sewer where he belongs and take his lying regime with him. I want so little - just for our Country, our Country of the Peoples, to be whole again with this regime gone, exiled for eternity to far away prisons for their crimes.

Every day still brings new horror. More and more articles suggesting that once a fascist government is democratically elected elections will no longer restore democracy. And the new national security direction which seeks to amplify far right movements in Eugope and support Russia? This needs to be non stop headlines around the world.
You were the first truth we heard…we will NEVER forget what MTN did for America! Trump and his regime are sitting between Benito Mussolini’s (rapid) and Augusto Pinochet’s (gradual) initial descent and then subsequent downfall. Stay steady and strong for pro democracy, people. There are many others out there. Thank Ben for giving a voice to those who are scared to speak out.
Congrats, Ben, on your Independent Journalist of the Year award from the Riverside County Democrats! I agree we're beginning to think about the post-Trump era and rebuilding. The following is my 2 cents. As we contemplate the post-Trump and MAGA-dominated North American scene, which will occur sometime in the 21st Century, we have to think about a new USA with a Constitution and laws that enact (memorialized with rights, obligations, and enforcement) the core principals of the Declaration of Independence and the rights and obligations of the people in the first phrase of the Constitution, "We the people ..." There will be limited if any opportunity to go back to the way it was before the Trump moment, when our constitution and much of our federal law relied on the preponderance of civic-minded actors in the federal government, a republic that, unfortunately, we didn't keep as advised by Ben Franklin September 17, 1787, the final day of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia.
